We zijn nog een dag verwijdert van het einde van het wielerseizoen.
Veel regen, natte wegen, mist en La Covatilla. Niks kon Remi Cavagna weerhouden om opnieuw mee te gaan in een kopgroep. Een grote groep ontsnapte al vroeg in de koers en pakte 4 minuten voorsprong.
Het peloton was niet bij machte om alle koplopers terug te halen. David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) soleerde zo naar de zege op Alto de la Covatilla, terwijl de top van het klassement vrijwel ongewijzigd bleef. Mattia Cattaneo demonstreerde nog maar eens zijn sterke benen en stelde zijn plek in de top-20 van het klassement meer dan veilig.
