Biography of José

Despite his diminutive stature, Jose Ibarguren Taus is one of the larger than life characters of the team. ‘Docky’ as he is affectionately known for his sense of humour and can often be seen at the centre of many of the smiles and laughter around the team.

Originating from the Alicante region of Spain, where Deceuninck – Quick-Step like to train during the winter months, Docky’s passion started at an early age when a family friend invited him to watch a race during his teenage years. While he was not able to race himself, he was smitten by the sport and enjoyed helping the riders. This led him to working with several teams, following his studies in medicine.

Away from cycling Docky is an avid walker and regularly treks for 15-20km per day, as well as enjoying open water swimming in the sea near his home in south east Spain.
