Biography of Filip

Soigneur Filip Sercu is another member of the team that was born with cycling in his blood.

From Roeselare, Sercu’s grandfather was former bike racer Albert Sercu, with this other grandad being UCI member and president of West-Vlaanderen KBWK, Andre Commeyne. Continuin the family tree, his uncle is the famous Patrick Sercu, know as King of Six Days and good road racer, who son is Christophe Sercu, former manager of Lotto-Domo and now Topsport Vlaanderen.

Sercu was a good amateur rider himself, before he started working in cycling in 2001 for Lotto-Adecco-Abx, originally as a bus driver. He then added the skills of a soigneur to his skill base, going to on work with Topsport-Vlaanderen, BMC, UHC and IAM. Sercu then joined Deceuninck – Quick-Step in 2017 on the recommendation of mechanic Dirk Clarysse.

He describes the team as like a family, with a close and loving atmosphere and team spirit.
